Northgate Music Festival

About the project

The Northgate Music Festival takes place every year in College Station, TX. Festival attendance had been slipping each year due to poor management and booking. We were brought in to help revive the festival. Unlike most projects, we really didn’t have anything to work with from previous years, so we scrapped everything and started from scratch. The identity is very flexible and features multiple versions (with and without a guitar / with and without some grunge texture). This gives a youthful look to the festival. Knowing the town that this festival is in and also knowing that all the stages were inside bars, we used wood textures in the website. The website included an NGMF radio where people could listen to full mp3s of the bands that would be at the festival. Other features included were online applications for bands / volunteers / sponsors, individual bios for each band (including an mp3, a photo, and a video), a schedule, a map, and links to Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter pages. The whole site was built in Wordpress, which allowed volunteers with no knowledge of HTML to easily update and create new pages within the site.
